Tuition and Financial Assistance

Each year, the cost of educating a child rises. In response, St. Joseph School actively pursues opportunities to grow the tuition assistance available to our families. Some of this assistance comes from generous benefactors within our community while other assistance comes from national organizations, each striving to make Catholic education affordable for all. Whether base tuition is a financial hurdle for your family or the number of children your family enrolls at St. Joseph School poses challenges, our school is there to support you. When your family is prayerfully considering its 2024-2025 tuition pledge in support of St. Joseph School, keep the available tuition assistance in mind.

Tuition Tax Deduction – Parent Packet

Wisconsin is one of only four states that has a state tax deduction for private K-12 school tuition. To learn more read the Tuition Tax Deduction Parent Packet. This document includes instructions on how to claim the deduction; answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ); and the current Schedule PS Form, which must be filed with parents’ taxes to claim the education.

Parents will need your school’s Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN). WCRIS suggests writing (or typing) in your school’s FEIN on the form or proactively providing it to give families a head start.

Find the packet and more resources on the WCRIS website here.

Funding the Gap

The cost of educating each child in grades K-8 at St. Joseph is $8,500 per student: tuition covers roughly 40% of this cost. The remainder of the cost of educating comes from the support of our four cluster parishes along with the fundraising efforts of our school families and the generosity of families contributing to the full cost of education. Please prayerfully consider what your family can contribute to the full cost of education. To learn more about fundraising visit this web page – Fundraising.

Updated 1/13/2023

Please look at “Table 2” above to determine whether your family qualifies based on the 2023-2024 income limits. Your “Maximum Yearly Income” is determined by the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on the federal income tax return. Family income includes the income of the student’s parent(s)/legal guardian(s) that reside in the same household as the student applicant. Furthermore, if the student’s parents/legal guardians that reside in the same household are married, their income is reduced by $7,000 when determining income eligibility.

Registration begins February 1, 2023 and ends April 21, 2023. If you think that your children may qualify, or have any questions, please contact our Jerry Van Dyke (principal) at 715-736-3100 or email j.vandyke@sjsricelake.org so that we may best serve all the children of our school. All inquiries and interests will be confidential.
