Robotics Summer Camp Registration

Robotics Summer Camp | Tuesday, June 18th – Friday, June 21st, 2024

WHAT /When/Where:

Jeremy “Pete” Peterson and high school Warrior Robotics students will host a four day VEX IQ camp for 3rd-8th graders. The camp will be held on Tuesday, June 18th-Friday June 21st. Campers will be separated into beginner and advanced levels. The camp will be held in the St. Joseph School gym.

Beginner Camp (Incoming 3rd grade and 4th grade) | 8:30 am – 11:30 am

The beginner campers is for incoming (24-25 school year) 3rd grade and 4th grade students as well as any student completely new to VEX IQ robotics. The focus will be on gaining comfort with the VEX IQ Code and building strategies. Both students who participated last year as well as new students who want to try robotics but are not necessarily committed yet to the competitive club should sign up. New campers will meet from 8:30 am-11:30 am on camp days.

Advanced Camp (Incoming 5th-8th graders) | 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Advanced campers are incoming 5th-8th graders who are committed to being on a competitive team next year. The focus will be on advanced building strategies. Students will be teamed by how they will compete during the 24-25 season and will be focused on getting a first draft of their competition robot ready for a mini-competition on the last day of the camp. Advanced Campers will meet from 1:00-4:00 pm.

THE GAME
This year’s VEX IQ Game is Rapid Relay. Please check online after May 5th for a video explanation of the game.

COST
The cost for each student participating is $30 which pays for some equipment and high school helpers.

1. Campers will work in pairs during the camp to build a set robot and learn to write code for various challenges. On the last day of camp, teams will use their robot and code to play in a mini-tournament.

2. Camp numbers will be limited to 14 campers, limited by the robot kits available. This will be determined by the order of signup.

3. Students will need to be dropped off on time for their camp daily and picked up promptly at camp completion time..
