Ministries of Heart Island
During Catholic Schools Week, the 8th-grade class at St. Joseph School, Rice Lake, set an ambitious goal to collect $5,000 and 1,000 items for the ministries at Heart Island. Inspired by their enthusiasm, Father Adam challenged the students to raise the stakes: if they could collect $6,000 and 1,200 items, he would allow them to shave his beard and head.
The Students Stepped Up!
As reported last week, the students not only met but exceeded their new goals. By the end of Catholic Schools Week, they had raised an impressive $6,927.26 and collected 1,269 items. Each day, students brought in donations, which were tallied by grade level. The grade with the highest contribution would earn a pizza and/or ice cream party.
In a spirited display of generosity and teamwork, the 8th-grade class led the school in both monetary and item donations. However, in a heartwarming gesture, they chose to share their reward with the second-place classes. As a result, the 5th grade will join them for a pizza party, while the 6th grade will celebrate with an ice cream party.
Let the Shaving Commence!
The fundraiser culminated in a memorable all-school assembly on Friday, February 14th. True to his word, Father Adam had his beard and head shaved with the assistance of one of the school’s parents and local hairstylist, Donna Gagner. The event was a joyful celebration of the students’ hard work, community spirit, and dedication to serving others.
St. Joseph School is proud of the students’ remarkable achievement and grateful for the support of the entire school community in making a meaningful impact on the ministries at Heart Island.
