Tuition and Financial Assistance
Each year, the cost of educating a child rises. In response, St. Joseph School actively pursues opportunities to grow the tuition assistance available to our families. Some of this assistance comes from generous benefactors within our community while other assistance comes from national organizations, each striving to make Catholic education affordable for all.
Whether base tuition is a financial hurdle for your family or the number of children your family enrolls at St. Joseph School poses challenges, our school is there to support you. When your family is prayerfully considering its 2025-2026 tuition pledge in support of St. Joseph School, keep the available tuition assistance in mind.

Wisconsin Parental Choice Program
St. Joseph Catholic School prides itself on ensuring that the cost of tuition is not a barrier for families and that a Catholic education is available to all. Therefore, we enrolled our school in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) for the 2025-26 school year. Students that qualify for the WPCP can receive a tuition voucher that covers the full cost of their education at St. Joseph School.
To qualify, students and their families must meet both of the requirements:
1. The student must be a current student at SJS entering 4K, Kindergarten or 1st Grade or is a student who is transferring from another school into a grade in which there is space available at SJS.
2. Meet the income requirements below.
| Maximum Yearly Income* | ||
| Family Size | Single Parent | Married Parents |
| 2 | $44,968 | |
| 3 | $56,804 | $63,804 |
| 4 | $68,640 | $75,640 |
| 5 | $80,476 | $87,476 |
| 6 | $91, 312 | $99, 312 |
For each additional member, add $11,836.
Please look at the table above to determine whether your family qualifies based on the 2025-26 income limits. Your “Maximum Yearly Income” is determined by the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on the federal income tax return. The AGI is sometimes lower than your income shown on W2 forms. Family income includes the income of the student’s parents / legal guardians that reside in the same household as the student.
Registration for the WPCP begins on February 1, 2025 and ends April 11, 2025.
If you think your child might qualify, or if you have questions about the program rules, please contact Jerry Van Dyke at j.vandyke@sjsricelake.org or call 715-736-3100. All inquiries are confidential.
Tuition Tax Deduction
Wisconsin is one of only four states that has a state tax deduction for private K-12 school tuition. To learn more read the Tuition Tax Deduction Parent Packet.
This document includes instructions on how to claim the deduction; answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ); and the current Schedule PS Form, which must be filed with parents’ taxes to claim the education.
Parents will need your school’s Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN). WCRIS suggests writing (or typing) in your school’s FEIN on the form or proactively providing it to give families a head start.
Find the packet and more resources on the WCRIS website here.
