Congratulations to Mrs. Christie Nielsen, from St. Joseph Catholic School for being selected for the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Teacher Fellowship. The purpose of the Kohl Teacher Fellowship program is to recognize and support excellence and innovation in teaching.  Mrs. Nielsen certainly exhibits these characteristics. The selection committee for the Herb Kohl Foundation awarded Christie and 100 other teachers in the state of Wisconsin to be recognized for the Fellowship award and she will receive a $6,000 grant for her accomplishments. Fellowship recipients are educators who have been chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Mrs. Nielsen was one of fourteen teachers recognized in private schools in the state of Wisconsin. Over 960 private schools exist in the state, so this award is an honor of the excellence she embodies in her work each day. Mrs. Nielsen has been a teacher at St. Joseph for 17 years. During that time she has helped to teach and transform the lives of students in the community. The Kohl Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship program was established by Herb Kohl, philanthropist and businessman, in 1990. Since then the foundation has awarded nearly $25 million to Wisconsin educators, principals, students and schools. “Education is the key to the future of Wisconsin and our nation. I am very proud of the accomplishments of these students, teachers, and principals and look forward to the great contributions they will make in the future”, Kohl said.

Please congratulate Mrs. Christie Nielsen on this incredible accomplishment!
